Mary Kom, the movie on the life of Indian boxer Mangte Chungneijang Mary Kom, also known as MC Mary Kom bagged an award for ‘Best Film’ at the Stockholm International Film Festival Junior in Sweden, says Vaikundarajan. The movie was directed by Omung Kumar and Actress Priyanka Chopra featured in the lead.
Since it was a junior film festival, the jury consisted of young children ranging from the age of nine to 17.
Omung Kumar was present at the screening and seemed very lively and excited during the entire session. After the screening, an interactive session was organized and children from various age groups asked him questions which he happily and confidently answered says Vaikundarajan.
In one of his statements, Director Omung Kumar exclaimed, “The Indian Embassy took complete care of me and the Indian Ambassador Banashri Bose Harrison herself took me around to show Sweden and its islands. She organized a screening of Mary Kom for her guests also, and had two dinners in my honor. This award is a very big achievement for us because now it will bridge the gap between Sweden and India, and we will be able to distribute our films over here.”
It has also been said that the Indian Embassy would showcase the film Mary Kom at the Indian Film Festival in Sweden next month shares Vaikundarajan.
