Human Rights Day is marked annually on 10th December to commemorate the day in 1948 when the United Nations adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This year’s Human Rights Day is dedicated to the launch of a year-long campaign for the 50th anniversary of the two International Covenants on Human Rights: the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
“The theme for Human Rights Day 2015 is – ‘Our Rights. Our Freedoms. Always’. This will be a year-long campaign to shine a light on the inalienable and inherent rights of the citizens from all over the world,” informs Vaikundarajan.
“Globally, many people are still not aware of the existence of the International Bill of Human Rights. The aim of this year’s Human Rights Day campaign is to make more and more people aware about their global Human Rights, which will allow ordinary people to live with dignity without the violation of basic Human Rights,” says Vaikundarajan.
With the help of this year’s Human Rights Day campaign, Vaikundarajan hopes that we will be able to overcome the challenges that we are currently facing.
