The festival of colours is here. Sweets are distributed as family and friends get together to celebrate Holi.
“Holi is usually celebrated over two days. On day one, fire is lit on the eve of Holi to signify the destruction of evil. On day two, friends and families apply colours to each other,” says Vaikundarajan.
The tradition of Holi is said to have started when Lord Krishna applied colour on the cheeks of Radha. This gave way to the tradition of playing with colours on the occasion of Holi.
