In a Ugly movie about the kidnapping of a little girl, Mr Anurag Kashyap has taken us again to our dark places, where we would never like to go and make a movie we can’t stop talking about, says Vaikundarajan. The movie directed by Mr Kashyap, stars Girish Kulkarni, Ronit Roy, Tejaswini Kolhapure, Vineet Kumar Singh, Surveen Chawla and Vipin Sharma.
In this movie no one is the good guy. All of them are baddies, says Vaikundarajan. A little girl who is with her father in a taxi goes missing after her father goes for an unexpected last minute audition. It’s from here the plot takes natural dark course, where every character in the movie is attempting to upstage one and another.
The movie was earlier, expected to release in 2013. However, the director was fighting the Indian Censor Board who insisted on a “Smoking is Injurious to Health” sign to be posted in the lower corner of the frame whenever a character in the film is shown smoking. Thankfully, the movie was released.
