Chinese smartphone giant Xiaomi has launched a new budget phone under the Redmi brand. The Redmi series of phones has already attracted quite a lot of attention earlier this year with their Redmi Note 3 model, although it was priced above 10,000. “The Redmi 3S series is priced under 10,000, and will be available on Mi.com and Flipkart in two variants, Redmi 3S at INR 6,999, and Redmi 3S Prime at INR 8,999 only”, informs Vaikundarajan.

While Redmi 3S comes with 2GB RAM, and 16 GB of internal storage, Redmi 3S Prime packs in 3GB of RAM with 32 GB of internal storage. The external storage in both phones is expandable up to 128 GB via microSD card. The phone has a dual-SIM support, which has become a norm in smartphones these days. While the primary SIM supports 4G calls and data, the secondary SIM can support 3G calls only.

Vaikundarajan Reviews Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro

Last month, smartphone giants Samsung launched a new device in their popular J series. Samsung Galaxy J2 was an instant hit with the audience. However, the company made some minor changes to the device and launched a new device called Galaxy J2 Pro. “The budget phone will be available on Snapdeal for INR 9,890 only,” informs Vaikundarajan.

The device packs in a 16GB RAM with microSD card support of up to 128 GB. The most notable feature of Galaxy J2 Pro is its next-gen LED notification system called – Smart Glow.

“It allows the device to set colour code for any alerts such as apps, contacts, battery, data and even selfie assistance,” says Vaikundarajan.

Vaikundarajan On The Release Of Freedom 251 Smartphone Device

When it was announced, Freedom 251 became a hot topic of discussion among the technology enthusiasts across the country. The sensational and controversial smartphone is now ready for sale, as announced by its CEO Mohit Goel.

“The device will be shipped from 30th June onwards. 2 lakh units are estimated to be shipped by 5th July,” informs Vaikundarajan.

At the price tag of 250, the company is predicted to incur losses in crores. Sources suggested that the current delay in releasing the devices was due to the battery adding further to the losses. “Over 7.5 crore users have registered for the device. Now the question arises, who will receive the device?” asks Vaikundarajan.

Vaikundarajan Reviews Asus Zenfone Max

Asus Zenfone Max-VaikundarajanSmartphone giants Asus have launched a new device that has two storage options and new processor priced at INR 9999. “At an affordable price, Asus Zenfone Max comes with a host of features. It has a large 5000 mAh battery with 2GB RAM,” says Vaikundarajan. The phone is available for pre-order on e-commerce site Flipkart. “A 3GB variant of the same device can also be ordered at INR 12999 from Amazon, Snapdeal or Flipkart,” informs Vaikundarajan.

The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 octa-core processor and comes with a storage space of 32 GB (expandable up to 64GB via microSD card). The device can run for an impressive 37.5 hours of 3G talk time or 32.5 hours of Wi-Fi web browsing. It also comes with an OTG cable that turns the device in to a charger.

The phone will be available in black, orange and blue colour variants with metal-like edges and textured leather pattern at the back. It will run on Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 on top of company’s ZenUI.

Speaking of its camera, Vaikundarajan says, “The rear camera is a powerful 13MP with f/2.0 aperture and dual LED flash. The front camera is 5MP.” Other supporting features on Asus Zenfone Max are 4G LTE, GSM, GPRS, aGPS, Bluetooth V 4.0, WiFi and micros USB.

Vaikundarajan Reviews The Cheapest Smartphone In India

However, a new player in the market has refreshed our memories by launching their own range of smartphones at just Rs. 888. “Jaipur-based company called Docoss has quietly entered the market with the cheapest possible smartphone in India,” informs Vaikundarajan.

Phoneradar, a tech-blogging network, revealed that the company had recently setup a website and was taking pre-orders for the smartphone. The website promises to deliver the device by May 2 with cash on delivery.

Analysing the website, Vaikundarajan noted, “The website looks dull with little information available on the company. The company requires users to book the phone via an SMS. Surprisingly, there is no photograph of the phone on the website.”

The company promises interesting features for a low price. The phone has a 4-inch screen and runs on 1.2 GHz dual-core Cortex A7 processor. It has 1GB RAM and 4 GB internal storage with expandable option of up to 32 GB. The phone runs on Android Kitkat. The rear camera comes with 2MP while the front camera is VGA.

“For the price of Rs. 888 and these features, the phone most certainly sounds like a good deal. Whether this is a real deal or just another scam remains to be seen,” concludes Vaikundarajan.

Vaikundarajan’s Take On The Cheapest Smartphone In India

“Smartphone is fast becoming a commodity. International brands are coming up with unique strategy to reach out to a wider audience,” says Vaikundarajan. In a surprise move, a local smartphone manufacturer called Ringing Bells has received support from Indian government to launch the cheapest smartphone titled Freedom 251.

“Keeping up with its Make in India initiative, this could be a revolutionary move as majority of the population will be equipped with technology in their hands. This will further encourage learning,” adds Vaikundarajan.

Amazon To Sell Motorola Moto G and Moto G Turbo, Informs Vaikundarajan

motorola-moto-g-turbo-vaikundarajanSince its launch in 2014, Moto G Series smartphones have been sold exclusively on Flipkart. However, Motorola made an announcement through Twitter that the smartphones will be available on Amazon India as well.

“This comes as good news for users as Amazon has always provided a better deal compared to Flipkart,” says Vaikundarajan. Moreover, tie-up with other e-commerce website brings in an opportunity to reach a wider consumer base. As an experiment to the new marketing strategy, Motorola offered its Moto E on Amazon India, Snapdeal and Airtel outlets.

The sales had been phenomenal and led to the company’s decision to partner with other e-commerce brands, informs Vaikundarajan. Now that Moto G series is available on Amazon India, users can expect Moto X Play and Moto X Style to follow the suit.

Speaking on its features, Vaikundarajan notes that Moto G Turbo is an advanced version of Moto G 3rd edition. Some differences to be noted are that the former has 64-bit class Snapdragon 615 series Octa-core as compared to 64-bit class Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor in the latter.

Other specifications are more or less the same. Both phones are equipped with 2GB RAM, 13 MP rear camera and 5MP front camera with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS, 2470 mAh battery and IP67 water-and-dust proof certification.

Vaikundarajan Welcomes Kamal Haasan To Twitter

Kamal Haasan is the new addition to the microblogging site. “His addition has created a wave on Twitter and his fans are ecstatic to have a one-on-one with him,” says Vaikundarajan.

It could not have been a better day for Kamal Haasan as he made his presence official on Republic Day in a grand fashion by posting a rendition of the National Anthem. “India’s freedom struggle remains unique even today. Respecting it is d only way to keep it & set new world standard,” he tweeted.

“His handle @iKamalHaasan has already been verified by Twitter and garnered over 8000 followers within an hour,” informs Vaikundarajan.

The four-time national award winning actor was also given a shoutout by his actor-daughter Shruti Hasan welcoming him to the platform.

Kamal Haasan will be next seen in Vishwaroopam 2, a sequel to the blockbuster Vishwaroopam that was released in 2013. “Haasan’s presence on Twitter is a long term treat to his fans. We can expect early updates of his films,” says Vaikundarajan.

Vaikundarajan Reviews Samsung’s 12-inch Windows 10 Powered Tablet

Samsung-Tablet-SM-W700-VaikundarajanSamsung’s 12-inch tablet powered by Windows 10 has been in the news for some time now. Recent reports have suggested that Wi-Fi Alliance and the Bluetooth SIG groups has given a certification to Samsung tablet SM-W700.

Vaikundarajan explains the tablet’s features, “It has a 12 inch display with a QHD resolution and comes with a powerful 4GB RAM.”
Samsung’s 12-inch Tablet. The tablet was spotted on Indian import/export site, Zauba. “This confirms the rumors and we can expect an official statement from the Samsung,” says Vaikundarajan. The device must have been imported from South Korea to be tested for performance and evaluation.

Adding to the features, the tablet will have an OS of Windows 10 along with Intel Core M processor. It will also come with an S pen.

Online portal Zauba has listed the shipping of tablets to Delhi and Bengaluru with a price tag of INR 30,000.

Samsung is also expected to be gearing up for high-end galaxy smartphones, informs Vaikundarajan. “Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Plus, Galaxy S7 Edge and Galaxy S7 Edge Plus are rumored to have been lined up for next year,” he says.

Will 2016 be the year of Samsung? Time will tell.

Vaikundarajan Talks About The Upcoming OnePlus X And Its Features

 

The success of OnePlus One and OnePlus Two is well known to the consumers. The Chinese smartphone makers are now gearing up to unveil the next model in line. “On 29th October, the company is planning to unveil OnePlus X Mini at an event held in India, Beijing, London and Jakarta simultaneously,” says Vaikundarajan.
